Eramosa Karst Wetland Construction

As part of the development of the Central Park Subdivision and the associated eco-corridor connecting the Mount Albion Conservation Area to the Eramosa Karst Conservation Area, a wetland was proposed to be restored and enhanced at the southeast corner of Highland Road and Upper Mount Albion within the Eramosa Karst Conservation Area.

The plan showing the proposed wetland is illustrated in Figure 1. The HCA entered into an External Works Agreement with Losani Homes to facilitate construction of the wetland at Losani Home’s cost. Construction of the wetland was delayed to ensure upstream areas had been developed and revegetated and to avoid sedimentation in the proposed wetland. With this largely completed, the wetland is proposed to be constructed in 2025.

Losani Homes is currently tendering the project out for construction, and they will advise the HCA of the construction start date. Work was recently undertaken on-site to remove trees and vegetation to facilitate the wetland construction and also to ensure the requirements of the Migratory Bird Convention Act were addressed.

Further updates regarding the wetland construction will be noted on this page as the project progresses.
