Christie Lake Conservation Area Closed July 29 Following Early Morning Fire

Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) has closed Christie Lake Conservation Area today, July 29, following an early morning fire that caused significant damage to two buildings at the conservation area. There were no reported injuries.
The fire heavily damaged the Lakeside Pavilion and Beach Pavilion 1, which houses the beach store and washroom facilities.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by authorities.
Christie Lake Conservation Area is closed today to allow the fire investigation to proceed and to ensure public safety while the extent of the damage is assessed.
HCA staff are contacting individuals and groups with upcoming bookings that are affected by the damaged facilities and areas.
