Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) is pleased to announce the installation of a Wind Phone at Dundas Valley Conservation Area, creating a quiet space for reflection, remembrance, and connection.
Wind Phones have been established around the world as places where people can feel connected to loved ones who have passed away or those they are separated from. While the phone is not connected to any telephone line, visitors are invited to pick up the receiver and speak openly, sharing thoughts, memories, feelings, or messages.
“Nature has long provided a place for healing, reflection, and connection,” said Lindsay Davidson, Assistant Manager, Marketing and Communications. “The Wind Phone creates a meaningful space where visitors can honour memories, express emotions, and say the things they didn’t get to say in the peace of the outdoors.”
The Wind Phone is in the Beckett Forest of the Dundas Valley Conservation Area, just off the main Dundas Valley Parking Lot at 650 Governors Road. The Beckett Forest is where the Hamilton Conservation Foundation recognizes donors to the Tribute Tree program. More information about Tribute Trees and other gifts can be found here: https://hamiltonconservationfoundation.ca/tribute-gifts/
The installation is available to all visitors and can be used in whatever way feels meaningful to them, so that wind may carry their messages.
