There’s no shortage of trails to hike in the Hamilton area or even at HCA, but there’s really only one place you can step back in time, and nature, as you explore. Westfield Heritage Village Conservation Area recently added to their trail system, and now offers nearly 7 KM in trails.
From the parking lot, you’ll pass through the historic village before reaching the hiking trails. At the Planing Mill, you’ll reach the Sugar Shack Trail, which connects to the larger trail system at Westfield. With five different connecting trails, you can choose your own adventure and path as you explore the over 500 acres of land here. As always when hitting the trails, it’s best to plan your route before heading out.
The trails travel through natural woodlands, plantation forests, provincially significant wetlands, meadow areas, and cultural heritage features from past farming operations. Hiking here is truly a unique experience.
One of the best features of the Westfield trails is that they are flat, with packed gravel and bridges crossing wetland areas. This means they are wheelchair friendly and perfect for pushing a stroller.
What are you waiting for? Step back in time and into nature as you discover and enjoy the trails at Westfield Heritage Village Conservation Area.
