Christie Lake

  • May 4: All trails are currently closed to equestrians due to soft conditions.

Devil’s Punchbowl

  • March 26: Some of the lights on the cross located at the Devil’s Punchbowl Conservation Area are not functioning correctly. Staff are aware of the issue and are working to repair it.

Dundas Valley

  • May 26: Due to damage, several trails are currently closed. Trails that are currently closed include G. Donald, Reforestation, Lookout, Sulphur Creek from Main Loop to Turnbull Road, and the connection from Sulphur Creek to Monarch Trail.
  • May 12: HCA and contractor workers will be along the Spring Creek Trail and Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail over the next few weeks to treat high-priority eastern hemlock trees against Hemlock Woolly Adelgid. Visitors may see workers injecting trees at the trunk under the supervision of HCA staff, or see staff placing metal tags on the trees to help monitor their health in future years. It is expected that work will be done throughout the day, including early mornings and evenings. If you see crews working on these trees, please do not disturb the equipment, approach workers who may be injecting trees, or remove any tags. Click here to learn more about Hemlock Woolly Adelgid.
  • April 18: Gravel trails will reopen to equestrian use. Grass trails remain closed to protect trail conditions until they dry. Closed grass trails include Sawmill, McCormack, John White Homestead, and G. Donald. Please stay off closed trails to prevent damage.
  • March 23: Construction work will be undertaken on the Hamilton to Brantford Rail Trail between Bumble Bee Hill and Sanctuary Park, and along Spring Creek Trail between the Jerome Park Drive and Bridlewood Drive entrances to repair a City of Hamilton waterline. Heavy construction equipment will be on site, and there may be temporary, short-term trail closures to allow safe vehicle access to the work locations.

Eramosa Karst

  • April 22, 2026: Increased coyote activity reported at Eramosa Karst and Felker’s Falls Conservation Areas. Coyotes may be more visible and defensive during denning season. Please use caution: keep dogs leashed, stay on trails, follow posted signage, and do not approach wildlife. Some areas may be temporarily closed. Learn more about living with coyotes.

Felker’s Falls

Fifty Point

  • April 1: HCA is advising boaters of reduced channel depth at Fifty Point Marina due to sediment buildup in the navigation channel from Lake Ontario. Learn more.
  • Trail Update: A section of an informal connector path along the east side of the pond is now closed for naturalization and is no longer accessible. This area will be restored with new tree and shrub plantings to support habitat and biodiversity. A formal trail connection will be developed nearby to maintain access around the pond. Please stay on designated trails and follow posted signage.

Meadowlands

  • October 10: The trail at the Meadowlands Conservation Area is closed until further notice due to area flooding.

Tiffany Falls

Valens Lake

  • January 16: A new campground loop is being added at Valens Lake. Visitors may see construction equipment and activity in the area throughout the winter and spring. The parking lot for the walk-in campsites will be used by HCA staff and contractors for construction access and temporary equipment storage. As a result, the walk-in campsites will be temporarily closed during the construction period. Learn more here.
  • Construction of the new lookout platform commenced in late 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2026. A small section of the trail will not be accessible during this time. This notice will be removed when the lookout is completed. Learn more here.
