New Campground Loop at Valens Lake Conservation Area

Project Summary

A new campground loop is being added at Valens Lake Conservation Area, as identified in the 2019 Valens Lake Master Plan. The new campground is located west of the existing Cedars camp area.

The new campground loop will include 24 serviced campsites and has been designed to provide comfortable spacing between campsites.

Timeline

Preparation work for this project began on site in late fall 2025, including necessary tree removals and transplanting. Construction of the access road and campsites will continue through winter and spring 2026 and is weather-dependent.

Trees disturbed by construction will be replaced as part of site restoration. Construction is expected to be substantially complete by Summer 2026, with the campground anticipated to open to the public following completion.

What to Expect During Construction

Construction is underway for the new campground loop and will continue through spring, with work extending into June 2026. Visitors may experience weekday construction activity and noise, particularly in the Cedars and Ironwood campground areas. Construction equipment and contractor access will be visible in and around the project area. The walk-in campsite parking lot will remain closed during construction.
