Due to safety concerns, the lookout tower has been removed from Valens Lake Conservation Area. This tower, while well-loved, was built in the mid-1970s and had reached the end of its lifespan.
A new tower, pictured at right, is planned for the same location as the original. It will have a similar footprint but will be wheelchair accessible. It will include two viewing decks constructed of steel and wood for a longer usable life and, as the first tower did, provide a unique viewpoint of Valens Lake.
The construction of the Lookout Platform will commence on November 25, 2024. The tower will be constructed throughout the winter, with the project being completed in Spring 2025. A small section of the trail will not be accessible during this time.
