Valens Lookout Platform Replacement

Due to safety concerns, the lookout tower has been removed from Valens Lake Conservation Area. This tower, while well-loved, was built in the mid-1970s and had reached the end of its lifespan.

A new tower, pictured at right, is planned for the same location as the original. It will have a similar footprint but will be wheelchair accessible. It will include two viewing decks constructed of steel and wood for a longer usable life and, as the first tower did, provide a unique viewpoint of Valens Lake.

Permit review for the new proposed structure is currently underway. Construction on the project is expected to begin in Winter 2024 and run to early 2025.
