Alerts are removed when they are no longer in effect.
Main Office
- September 2025: The front lawn at HCA’s main office at Woodend is having its sod removed as we transform it into a native pollinator meadow. This pilot project will reduce lawn maintenance, support pollinator species, and provide learning opportunities for visitors. The site may look disrupted during this process, but it is part of creating a long-term habitat.
Saltfleet
- November 3: The West Wetland Trail is currently closed until further notice. Other trails in the area remain open, and access remains to open between Saltfleet and the Dofasco 2000 Trail.
Christie Lake
- November 7: Due to a third-party rental, traffic will be intermittently stopped on the east side of the conservation area throughout the day.
- October 26: Beginning October 26, Marina washrooms will be the only available facilities for the fall and winter season.
Meadowlands
- October 10: The trail at the Meadowlands Conservation Area is closed until further notice due to area flooding.
Eramosa Karst
- August 13, 2025: Wetland construction has begun at Eramosa Karst Conservation Area. Learn more.
- Visitors should be aware of increased coyote activity at the Eramosa Karst. Learn more about living with coyotes.
Fifty Point
- September 17: Due to decreasing water levels and increased sediment levels, sailboats are to exercise caution while entering and exiting the Fifty Point Marina channel. Please navigate the channel with caution and it is recommended to contact the Marina Office at 905-525-2187 or fiftypt@conservationhamilton.ca for further information.
- Road Work Update – September to October. Road work that began September 2 continues. The main road from the gatehouse (west of the exit lane) to the Y-intersection will fully close for paving October 27–31 (weather permitting). Traffic will be re-routed east around the pond. Access to the north boat storage compound remains open. See full project summary and timeline.
Tiffany Falls
- Tiffany Falls experiences high visitation, but unlike larger conservation areas, it has limited space and parking to accommodate that use. Learn more about the Visitor Use Management Plan here.
Valens Lake
- October 14: The water will be shut off at Valens Lake for the season. The Hilltop washroom will remain open.
- Construction of the new lookout platform commenced in late 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2026. A small section of the trail will not be accessible during this time. This notice will be removed when the lookout is completed. Learn more here.
