The start of a new year signals new beginnings and a chance to start fresh! Resolution or not, the new year is a great time to try and head outside a little more and even have a go at something new.
Walking in nature has been linked to enhanced mental health and positivity, as well as significantly lower levels of depression and feelings of stress. Certainly the outdoors is not a cure all, but if you are having a bad day, try heading out for a hike in nature – you’ll be surprised at how calming it can be. Considering the last couple of years we’ve had, a chance to get out of the house and into the fresh air can be a welcomed change.
A new year also invites new adventures! HCA has many different areas to discover. Check out the lake views at Fifty Point, Christie Lake, Confederation Beach Park or Valens Lake, take a step back in time as you stroll through Westfield Heritage Village or hike the escarpment in the Dundas Valley. With over 140km of hiking and recreation trails, there are plenty of places to discover or revisit.
Wishing you a happy new year and we hope you make nature a part of your 2022!
