Join us for Foundation Day on October 3
Families invited to celebrate 50 years of protecting nature
For 50 years, the Hamilton Conservation Foundation (HCF) has brought together people who care about nature and want to make a difference in the places they value. Through the generosity of donors, volunteers, community groups, and partners, the Foundation has helped protect natural lands, improve trails, restore habitat, support outdoor learning, and preserve local heritage. Many of the places and experiences supported decades ago are now being enjoyed by a new generation, a lasting reminder of what can be accomplished when people come together to care for the natural spaces around them.
A Celebration of Conservation—Past, Present and Future
Foundation Day will offer visitors a chance to discover how local land conservation works and why protecting natural spaces matters. Activities throughout the day will invite families to learn, explore, and connect with the natural world while highlighting the role of community support in local conservation. Visitors can enjoy:
- Hands-on activities at interactive learning stations
- Guided nature walks focused on spotting native plants and animals
- Meet-the-experts booths to connect with HCA ecology and stewardship staff
- A sneak peek at a new land preservation project at the headwaters of Fletcher Creek
- A chance to win a weekend stay at a Valens Lake Conservation Area cabin
Visitors are encouraged to RSVP to help with planning, but walk-ins are still welcome.
A Day That Gives Back to Nature
Dundas Valley Conservation Area gate fees will be directed to HCF as a charitable donation on this day, helping support the work to protect local land for future generations.

When: October 3 from 11 AM to 2 PM
Where: Dundas Valley Conservation Area Trail Centre at 650 Governors Road in Dundas
Cost: Free for HCA Members, or $11.50 per vehicle for non-members.
