HCA Program Ambassador

The Hamilton Conservation Authority has a seasonal opportunity for an 

HCA Program Ambassador

Reporting to the Outdoor Environmental Education & Program Specialist, the HCA Program Ambassador will engage with visitors on-site to promote responsible trail use, provide educational outreach, and support conservation area programs. This role involves public interaction, environmental education, customer service, and program development.

Responsibilities

The position will work closely with the education team to:

  • Actively engage with the public on trails to promote trail etiquette and responsible outdoor recreation
  • Educate visitors on conservation area programs using educational materials and props
  • Provide environmental education on local ecology, wildlife, and sustainability topics
  • Develop and deliver recreational programs for visitors, including Learn to Fish programming
  • Promote user compliance with conservation area rules and regulations to ensure safe and positive customer experiences
  • Assist visitors with questions, payments, and general customer service needs
  • Support the outdoor education team with events and educational programs
  • Prepare regular reports on visitation statistics, program attendance, and visitor interactions
  • Organize and maintain educational and program materials and equipment
  • Facility and grounds maintenance as required
  • Travel to multiple conservation areas as needed to support programming and outreach
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum secondary education enrollment. Enrolled in post-secondary education in Environmental Studies, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
  • Valid G2 driver’s license (or higher) required
  • Provide proof of passing a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Work experience in education, conservation areas, or parks is an asset
  • Public relations, outreach, or customer service experience is an asset
  • Experience leading outdoor education programs or public engagement initiatives is an asset
Working Conditions

This position will work a varied schedule, and candidates must be available to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings. This position reports to the Dundas Valley Education Centre, 650 Governors Road, Dundas, ON. With travel or multiple HCA Conservation Areas as needed. 

Must be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather.

Work Term and Rate of Pay

These are casual summer positions, with an anticipatory start date of May 4, 2026. The rate of pay is $17.60 per hour.
