Christie Lake Mountain Bike Trails
Enjoy the 10-kilometres of multi-use trails, and cyclists can also enjoy themselves on park roads. Please obey the rules of the road and wear a helmet for your safety.
HCA is partnered with the Hamilton Burlington Mountain Biking Association to build and maintain sustainably designed single-track bike trails in Christie Lake. The area features nearly 10-kilometres of beginner, intermediate, and advanced paths, with a clay surface and few rocks. They run through the south side of Christie Lake, opening up the mostly pine-reforested area to two-wheeled exploration.
Christie Lake’s bike trails can close due to trail conditions. A visitor alert will be posted when they are closed
Know Your Responsibilities
- Surprised trail users can be startled by fast-moving trail users, especially when approaching from behind. Always ride under control, anticipate users around blind corners, and be friendly and communicative.
- Expect the unexpected. Humans and animals can be unpredictable or easily spooked by cyclists.
- Cyclists should stay on trails at all times.
- Negotiate safe passes:
- Passing Hikers: Greet hikers early and slow down to their same speed, be prepared to stop if necessary.
- Passing Cyclists: Announce your intention with a friendly “on your left.”
- Passing Horses: Pass horses slowly and steadily. If possible, on narrow trails, wait for them to pass you
