Fifty Point Marina Navigation Update

Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) is advising boaters of reduced channel depth at Fifty Point Marina due to sediment buildup in the navigation channel from Lake Ontario.

A bathymetric survey of the channel is currently scheduled to determine the current channel depth and identify areas of sediment accumulation. Once the survey results are available, the marina will provide updated information on channel conditions and recommended vessel draft limits.

Vessels with deeper draft or keel depth may experience difficulty navigating the channel. Boaters are advised to use caution when entering and exiting the marina and be aware that channel conditions may change.

Due to permit restrictions from the Ministry of Natural Resources, in-water dredging work cannot take place between March 15 and July 15. Dredging of the navigation channel is currently planned to begin after July 15, 2026, to restore channel depth and improve navigation access. Additional dredging may take place later in the fall if required, following a review of channel conditions after the initial dredging work.

HCA will continue to update boaters as more information becomes available, including survey results, dredging timelines, and navigation guidance. Updates will be posted on the Fifty Point webpage and communicated directly to marina customers.
