The Hamilton Conservation Authority invites you to apply to join our team this summer and contribute to the environment and your community.
Life in the outdoors is always fun and our conservation areas are preparing for their 2021 operations. This is your chance to learn about the Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) and make a contribution to its success. We have a variety of opportunities to choose from at our conservation areas/parks/ facilities, for students, seniors and adults, including gate attendants, grounds maintenance, lifeguards, food services and security. Work in a fun, outdoor environment. We offer training for all positions. The majority of our openings are full-time seasonal positions for the summer and applicants must be available to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays as required and scheduled as these are some of our busiest days for the public. If you enjoy working with people, are active and outgoing, please review the opportunities listed below that we have available at our conservation areas and apply via email or fax with our application form and resume. Applications are now being accepted, so apply today! All staff (both new and returning) will be required to attend a mandatory orientation/training session and complete on-line training modules.
Available Opportunities at all of our Conservation Areas: Valens Lake, Christie Lake (which includes working at Spencer Gorge), Dundas Valley, Hamilton Mountain, Confederation Beach Park and Fifty Point
Maintenance staff are required, with various levels of skills and experience, in all areas. These positions assist in the maintenance of the grounds and pool/beach areas, including collecting litter, cleaning washrooms, cutting grass, operating small power equipment, including weed-whips, leaf-blowers and pressure-washers. A few positions will also involve trail maintenance, where a background in tree-pruning and forestry is preferred. Experience driving pick-up trucks and landscape trailers is considered an asset for positions in the Dundas Valley and the Hamilton Mountain CAs. Many positions in our Conservation Areas will also require a valid class G driver’s license. Starting rate is minimum wage.
Licensed Security Staff
Security staff are required at Valens Lake, and Fifty Point and additional duties such as grounds maintenance, janitorial and other jobs as required are part of the position. The majority of work is evenings/nights with some daytime shifts. All of our Conservation Areas (except Confederation Beach Park and Hamilton Mountain) have food concessions where the public can purchase ready-made sandwiches, water/pop, ice-cream and other convenience store type items.
