Summer Employment Opportunities

The Hamilton Conservation Authority invites you to apply to join our team this summer and contribute to the environment and your community.

Life in the outdoors is always fun and our conservation areas are preparing for their 2024 operations. This is your chance to learn about Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) and contribute to its success. We have a variety of opportunities to choose from at our conservation areas / parks/ facilities, for students, seniors and adults, including gate attendants, grounds maintenance, lifeguards, food services, custodian and security. Work in a fun, outdoor environment. We offer training for all positions. The majority of our openings are full-time seasonal positions for the summer and applicants must be available to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays as required and scheduled as these are some of our busiest days for the public. Available Positions

Available Opportunities at all of our Conservation Areas: Valens Lake, Christie Lake (which includes working at Spencer Gorge), Dundas Valley, Hamilton Mountain, Confederation Beach Park and Fifty Point.

HCA Areas: Maintenance staff are required, with various levels of skills and experience, at all areas.

These positions assist in the maintenance of the grounds and pool / beach areas, including collecting litter, cleaning washrooms, cutting grass, operating small power equipment, including weed-whips, leaf-blowers and pressure-washers. A few positions will also involve trail maintenance, where background with tree-pruning and forestry is preferred.  Experience driving pick-up trucks and landscape trailers is considered an asset for positions in the Dundas Valley and the Hamilton Mountain CAs. Many positions in our Conservation Areas will also require a valid class G driver’s license.

Starting rate: $16.80 (over 18) and $15.85 (under 18).

HCA Areas: Security staff are required at Valens Lake and Fifty Point.

Additional duties such as grounds maintenance, janitorial and other jobs as required are part of the position. The majority of work is evenings/nights with some daytime shifts. Applicants must possess their private security license as mandated by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and previous work experience is an asset. Hourly wage is $19.05.

Hourly wage: $19.05

HCA Areas: We require cashiers and gate attendants at all areas (except Confederation Beach Park and Hamilton Mountain).

Duties include collecting park admission, engaging customers and visitors with information on our annual vehicle pass, registering campers (at areas with campsites), boat and canoe rentals and general public relations. Attendants are responsible for handling money, tickets and cards, therefore, quick and accurate transaction skills are required to maintain our high service standards.

Starting rate: $16.80 (over 18) and $15.85 (under 18).

HCA Areas: Valens Lake and Christie Lake

All of our Conservation Areas (except Confederation Beach Park, Dundas Valley, Fifty Point and Hamilton Mountain) have food concessions where the public can purchase ready-made sandwiches, water/pop, ice-cream and other convenience store type items. These positions will prepare (if required) and serve food, in compliance with Ontario Health regulations.

Starting rate: $16.80 (over 18) and $15.85 (under 18).

HCA Areas: Available at Fifty Point only.

Fifty Point is seeking a Janitor/Cleaner to join their team.  Duties include cleaning floors, showers, washrooms, windows and removing garbage, as well as, light maintenance.

HCA Areas: Confederation Beach Park

At Confederation Beach Park, we are looking for a Team Leader. In addition to the roles outlined under the Grounds Maintenance position, the Team Leader is responsible in assisting and supervising the staff and the day to day operations. The Team Leader will also be well versed with various types of trucks, lawn care equipment and hand tools and have experience with trouble shooting equipment issues and facility repairs. The Team Leader may also handle money, provide customer service and have a strong focus on worker safety.

Hourly wage: $17.80
