New Year, New Adventures
Posted January 3, 2018
A new year welcomes a chance to start over and make new goals for yourself. If you haven’t already set a new year’s resolution, why not try to be more active and get outside! Sure joining a gym sounds like a great idea, but did you know that being outdoors offers relief for everything from depression to negativity? A walk in nature is linked to enhance mental health and positivity, as well as significantly lower levels of depression and feelings of stress. If you’re having a bad day, try heading out for a hike in nature. You’ll be surprised at how calming it can be.
A new year also means new adventures! HCA offers plenty of green spaces to discover something new. Whether it’s a hike through the Dundas Valley, off-road biking at Christie Lake, a weekend of camping at Valens Lake or catching your first “big one” at Fifty Point – there’s always a new adventure for you at HCA. Check out all the hiking and activities available at HCA here.
Finally, a new year means the opportunity to make a difference in the world. It can start with little changes like turning off the tap when brushing your teeth or sorting your recycling, garbage and compost. You can directly support great conservation work by donating to the Hamilton Conservation Foundation or by becoming an HCA Membership Pass holder. You can also focus on reduce your carbon footprint. Consider carpooling to work or biking/walking. Every effort makes a huge difference!
Whatever you decide to make your new year’s resolution, make 2018 your best year yet!
