 It's Canada's birthday and there is no better way to celebrate than at the Hamilton Conservation Authority!

Canada Day Events

Whether you'd like to ride the waves, enjoy the fireworks or step back in time HCA has you covered this Canada Day!

Canada Day at Wild Waterworks
Saturday July 1 from 11am to 8pm
Celebrate Canada Day at Wild Waterworks with flags, pins, stickers. Service persons receive free entry and those wearing red and white will receive $3.00 off admission at the gate not applicable with sundown rates. Join in the fun with Canada themed games and contests!

Celebrating 150 Years at Westfield Heritage Village
Saturday July 1 from 10am to 4pm
Tour the village and discover what life was like in early Canada.  Visit the historic buildings, gardens and forests, stroll on the boardwalk or take a hike on the trails. This is a great opportunity for new Canadians to experience the history of Canada. Get your special edition, Canada 150 red and white mouse from the General Store!

Valens Lake Canada Celebration
Saturday July 1 All Day
Whether you stay all weekend to camp or just come by for the day, Valens Lake is the perfect spot to celebrate Canada's 150 birthday. Big Scoops ice cream truck will be on site to help cool you off or take a dip at the beach! Pack a picnic, go for a hike or a paddle and then settle in for a Canada 150 fireworks show after sunset!

Hamilton Community Foundation Free Day: A Place to Belong
Sunday July 2 - During Area Hours
In celebration of Canada's 150 birthday, the Hamilton Community Foundation has made it possible for over 40 attractions in the city be free to the public on these days. Participating HCA areas include: Christie Lake, Confederation Beach Park, Devil's Punchbowl, Dundas Valley, Eramosa Karst, Fifty Point, Tiffany Falls, Valens Lake and Westfield Heritage Village. Camping at Valens or Fifty Point
There's no better way to celebrate Canada, than by enjoying the natural beauty of our  country! Get even closer to nature and head out for a night, weekend or even longer camping under the summer night sky! Check out our camping reservation page for availability.

Fishing - License Free Week
Grab your rod and reel and catch the big one - no license required! Canadian residents can enjoy the fun of fishing in Ontario without a license during the License-Free Fishing Week, from July 1-9!

Hit the Trails
Hike the Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest and longest footpath! The Bruce Trail and its side trails cross several HCA conservation areas including Dundas Valley, Iroquoia Heights and Spencer Gorge.

Paddle the Lake
Canoes played an important role in the exploration of North America and during Canada's fur trade. Continue the Canadian tradition this Canada Day as you explore Christie or Valens Lakes! If canoeing isn't for you, try a kayak or rowboat. Valens Lake even offers stand up paddle board rentals!

Head to the Beach
Suit up and splash around in the summer sun! Head to one of HCA's four sandy beaches and instead of a sandcastle, try building a famous Canadian landmark like Parliament or the CN Tower! Or keep it simple and draw out a Canadian Flag in the sand!

Pack a Picnic
Want a relaxing day spent outdoors, keep it simple and celebrate Canada Day with a picnic! Make it more Canadian with a Montreal smoked meat or Canadian bacon sandwich with a side of ketchup chips or poutine! For dessert, pack along some Nanaimo bars, butter tarts or anything maple!
