Birding by Ear in the Dundas Valley

Join our resident bird expert, James Lees, and immerse yourself in the wonder of bird songs and call in the beautiful Dundas Valley Conservation Area. Bird song is often the most challenging aspect for a beginner birdwatcher, so allow James to talk you through each one and open your ears and eyes to birds like never before. James has worked with birds for 26 years and has guided over 40 tours around the world. He is currently the Superintendent of the Dundas Valley Conservation Area.

On this three-hour gentle hike, you will learn the calls and songs of a large number of migrant and resident birds and other wildlife along the way. Whether you are a beginner or have been birding for a while, everyone will find plenty of learning opportunities during this tranquil event.


  • A maximum of 16 places are available per hike.
  • Three-hours long
  • The pace of the hike is moderate, and the terrain is variable.
  • Water bottle recommended and binoculars are essential.
  • Unfortunately, dogs are not welcome on this event.
