The project will replace the existing bridge with a new wheelchair accessible pedestrian foot bridge; it will improve and widen the existing trail system with the installation of a limestone screening surface; and it will divide the trail system into a South Loop and a North Loop.
This project is a part of the The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) which is being delivered by regional development agencies across the country to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017.
The $300-million national program supports the renovation, expansion and improvement of existing community and cultural infrastructure, including projects that support the Government's priorities to ensure a better future for Indigenous peoples and promote a clean growth economy.
