Wild Waterworks outdoor water park has begun accepting applications for the 2018 summer season. In anticipation of a thrilling and busy summer, we will be hiring approximately 120 seasonal employees to fulfill a diverse and exciting range of job opportunities across all essential summer operations, including lifeguards, cashiers, food and beverage, guest services, security, maintenance and more!

Important things to note before applying to Wild Waterworks:

  • All staff are required to attend mandatory training sessions throughout the month of May, as well as bi-weekly in-season training
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the •operating schedule
  • As part of the Hamilton Conservation Authority team you may be scheduled and asked to report to a different conservation area to assist with special events, staffing shortages, etc. throughout the length of your employment period
  • Positions are seasonal and do not allow for vacation periods during employment
  • Positions require outdoor work for extended periods of time through various weather conditions
  • Police Checks are required for all positions and must be submitted before working
  • Staff must communicate effectively both orally and in writing when speaking to the public and staff
  • Candidates should have attention to detail, confidence, and have a big smile!

Available Positions:

Up to 55 Lifeguards are required to perform various guarding duties at Wild Waterworks. Lifeguards are responsible for safe and efficient operations of all water attractions, providing patrons with required assistance and safety instructions, as well as maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility. All applicants must be 16 years of age or older and must possess or be in the process of obtaining a valid National Lifeguard Service certificate, as well as a valid CPR Level C and Standard First Aid certificate. Those hired must be required to meet functional ability requirements.

 

Additional Information/Requirements:

  • Ability to respond to emergencies and incidents and provide appropriate first aid
  • Adapt to communicating understanding signals, phones, radios and whistles with other staff
  • Comfortable with heights including climbing stairs and ramps
  • Must participate in all training/physical tests assigned and maintain appropriate fitness requirements
  • Responsible for the safe operation of all water attractions while providing efficient life-guarding skills

 

Lifeguard Starting Wage: $15.00

Up to 8 Water slide Attendants are required to operate and dispatch riders in a safe manner, following all safety regulations provided. Water slide Attendants are responsible for ensuring patron safety and enjoyment at Wild Waterworks, as well as maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility. All applicants must be 14 years of age or older and must possess or be in the process of obtaining a valid Bronze Cross certificate, as well as a valid CPR Level C and Standard First Aid certificate.

 

Additional Information/Requirements:

  • Adapt to communicating understanding signals, phones, radios and whistles with other staff
  • Comfortable with heights including climbing stairs and ramps
  • Ensure proper usage and safety practices and procedures while operating aquatic attractions
  • Must participate in all training/physical tests assigned and maintain appropriate fitness requirements
  • Must provide guest and attraction information, monitor the queue and make appropriate adjustments

 

Water slide Attendant Starting Wage: Minimum Wage

2 Assistant Pool Operators are required to assist with the successful operation of the various water attractions, maintaining appropriate water quality and plant appearance and cleanliness. Assistant Pool Operators must understand necessary swimming pool operations, including filtration, sanitation and water balancing. Previous experience dealing with swimming pool operations and a Pool Operators certificate would be an asset.

 

Additional Information/Requirements:

  • Ability to prepare and operate all water attractions by inspecting and maintaining the wave •generating equipment, maintaining pumps, and inspecting attractions for any deficiencies
  • Comfortable with heights including climbing stairs, ladders and ramps
  • Must accurately and confidently troubleshoot equipment breakdowns in a timely fashion
  • Maintain appropriate and safe water quality by conducting tests and adjusting chemicals as required
  • Must understand and demonstrate proper use of safety practices and personal protective equipment

 

Assistant Pool Operator Starting Wage: $15.00

 

Up to 4 Security Officers are required for the safety and well-being of all guests, staff and other visitors at Wild Waterworks. Security Officers must maintain appropriate access control, property and resources protection, and must deal and resolve security related incidents promptly. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older and must possess an Ontario Security Guard license as mandated by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

 

Additional Information/Requirements:

  • Assist with crowd control and emergency situations
  • Confidently respond to incidents such as theft or property damage, disorderly conduct by guests or •staff and take appropriate action to meet required resolution
  • Maintain hourly logs and proper documentation for situations and required reports
  • Must assure the security and safety of guests and staff by observing and monitoring for unsafe or •threatening conditions
  • Must use proper judgement and law enforcement to resolve issues in extreme conditions

 

Security Officer Starting Wage: $15.00

 

Up to 15 Maintenance Staff are required to perform park maintenance, grounds keeping and janitorial duties during pre-season and throughout the operating season. Maintenance Staff keep the facility clean and pristine while interacting with guests and offering information in a courteous manner.

 

Additional Information/Requirements:

  • Adequately work as a team to complete janitorial services and maintenance duties assigned
  • Clean change rooms, restroom facilities, turf and buildings as required
  • Maintain facility quality standards by performing all cleaning duties assigned and noticed
  • Must be observant to notice janitorial or maintenance issues and respond to them accordingly
  • Must understand and demonstrate proper use of safety practices and personal protective equipment

 

Maintenance Starting Wage: Minimum Wage

 

Up to 6 Guest Services Representatives are required for ensuring the satisfaction and enjoyment of visitors at Wild Waterworks. Guest Services Representatives are responsible for processing season passes, checking in cabana rentals, planning and implementing events, communicating with the public either in person, over the phone or via email, and responding to patron concerns and ensuring customer satisfaction. Experience with groups, event planning, public relations, cash handling and office administration is a strong asset.

 

Additional Information/Requirements:

  • Adapt and understand how to use various computer software for necessary operations
  • Attend to guest inquiries and complaints, and address the public in a friendly, courteous manner
  • Establish a line of communication and trust with guests by learning their needs and satisfaction
  • Perform various administrative duties such as typing, data entry and retrieval and filing
  • Process daily admission, group sales, season passes and vehicle passes, and produce accurate records

 

Guest Services Representative Starting Wage: Minimum Wage

 

Up to 22 Cashiers and Servers are required to sell/redeem admission tickets, rent tubes, collect fees, control turnstile, serve food and beverage items, and attend to cabanas. Cashiers and Servers will be in direct contact with guests and must be friendly and courteous to all. Experience with cash handling and public relations is a strong asset.

 

Additional Information/Requirements:

  • Adapt and understand how to use various computer software for necessary operations
  • Attend to guest inquiries and complaints, and address the public in a friendly, courteous manner
  • Handle admission, rental items and food purchase and distribute in a timely fashion
  • Precisely operate computerized cash register, handle cash and float money, process credit and •debit card sales and process admissions and coupons
  • Use suggestive selling and up-selling techniques and provide proper information regarding products

 

Cashier/Server Starting Wage: Minimum Wage

 

Up to 10 Cooks are required for our fast-paced food concession operations. Cooks satisfy our guests with a wide variety of delicious food items that are offered, while ensuring optimal food quality and maintaining exceptional sanitary conditions of all food services areas. Previous short-order cook experience is an asset.

 

Additional Information/Requirements:

  • Comfortable working around hot objects such as the grills and deep fryers
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with food quality and value and excellent customer service
  • Must be observant of the physical appearance, organization, sanitation and cleanliness of all food •concessions and equipment
  • Safely prepare food items including hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, chicken, pork products, funnel •cakes, appetizer items and many other items that may be requested
  • Must understand and demonstrate proper use of safety practices and personal protective equipment
